Computer virus share similar characteristics since they are designed by programmers so as to cause harm on computers, they share characteristics that are uniform to all viruses like being polymorphic and also hidding on a computer, below are some of characteristics of computer virus;

1.0 can be polymorphic, computer virus can be capable of modifying itself in such a way that it can appear in many forms and that are hardly to find, in this scenario it is capable of changing it’s appearance and hence continue to cause more harm.

2.0 can be resident in memory, computer virus can be a resident in computer memory and then infect computer when files are executed or when files are runned they tend to attach themselves in computer memory

3.0 can be furtive, first the virus attach themselves in computer files and then in computer this makes the virus spread more quickly and also faster and may lead to quick breakdown of computer

4.0 one virus can bring another virus, once the virus has infected your machine it can become host to other  viruses and assist each other to hide in your machine and continue to cause more harms

5.0 can make system show no sign of infection, some viruses have capability of changing system and it start behaving like the system does not contain any virus

6.0 can stay in computer even if the hard disk is formatted, computer virus is capable of staying in the computer even if the computer is completely formatted

Effects of computer virus

1.0 computer speed,computer virus tend to low the speed of the computer by causing it to run slower, even if you restart your computer it wil still run slow. Even if the user is not runnning the computer it will show the memory is occupied.

2.0 Modifying and also  deleting files, computer virus is capable of deleting and also modifying original user files hence leading to loss of confidential information
