This is the process of protecting and defending computer systems, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems,data and networks from harmful attacks.

Categories of cyber security.
1.Application security
This category deals with ensuring that softwares and devices are free from threats.
Application security begins all the way from the design stage as the web developer is developing the application or software. The web developer ensures that he or she includes security measures into the system to protect end users data.
2.Network security.
This is the process by which computer network systems are protected from intrusion. Networks need to be secured especially during transmission of information to end users.

3. Operational security.
It entails decisions and processes that protect data or information. Operational security deals with permission that end users need in order to have access to a certain network and also deals with the location where user data will be stored.
4. Information security.
This category deals with protection of privacy and integrity of data when it is being transmitted or stored.
5. End user education.
It deals with providing more knowledge to end users of how they can put their data or information into risk of attacks and how to prevent this risks from happening. Users are educated on issues such as how to prevent attack from viruses which cause harm to systems.
