TYPES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Based on the functionalities, AI can be grouped into the following.
1. Reactive machine.
They are one of the most common forms of AI. Reactive machines operate in such a way that they do not rely on past experience, information or memory when facing a current situation. A good example of such a system is the Deep Blue IBM chess program that beat Garry Kasparov a chess grandmaster in the late 1990's. The IBM could predict the next moves even of it's opponent during the game but could not deal with information of events that had happened in the past or have its memories.
2. Limited memory.
These type of machines have memory of events of the past. Therefore these systems are able to use past experience or knowledge to inform current situations or decisions. A good example of such a system is self driving cars. These cars monitor other cars direction from a certain distance so that by the time the other car is near they will have known how to deal with the situation. These cars also put into consideration some of the features of the road such as lanes and traffic lights when they are being programmed and designed for use.
3. Theory of mind. 
As the name suggests, these systems are designed in such a way that they have a certain level of understanding that humans have and  these  thoughts would determine the decisions that they will make.
4. Self awareness.
This is the last stage of AI which aims at coming up with systems that can present themselves out there. These systems should be having self consciuosness and able to predict the feelings in living objects around them.
