STRUCTURED QUERY LANGUAGE

SQL is a programming language that is designed for the purpose of managing data that is in a relational database management system.

The benefits of using Structured Query Language (SQL)

  1. This type of language does not require to be coded.

The management of data in a database is easy with the use of this language since it does not require execution of a code to manage the data.

  1. The language is portable.

Databases that have implemented this language can be transferred or moved from one device to another. The language can also run on laptops, computers, servers and even on android mobile phone devices.

  1. SQL is a high speed language.

The language consists of SQL Queries which assist in fast and easy retrieval of data in databases that use the language. It uses less time is taken to retrieve data from the database.

  1. It consists of standards that are well defined.
  2. SQL is a language that has the interactive feature.

The language interacts with the database and it is also responsible for receiving answers to questions which are compound.

  1. The language consists of an enabled multiple view of data.

Users of the system can be able to observe the database structure in different views.

Disadvantages of SQL

  1. SQL interface is complex and difficult.

The users of the system may find it difficult to interact with the interface due to its complexity.

  1. The cost incurred to implement the language is high and as a result not many will buy it.
  2. Partial control for the users of the language.

Users of the language do not have full control of the database and hence may not enjoy using it.
